Blood flow visualization from 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging using the X3D standard

4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables the evaluation of blood flow patterns in cardiovascular diseases by resolving blood flow velocity relative to the three anatomical dimensions and the dimension of time. 4D flow MRI processing solutions highlight the need of disposing of quality visualisations to enhance the interpretation of the data. In this context, we present an open-source python-based pipeline for loading and processing 4D flow MRI data in the context of pulmonary hypertension, followed by the production of X3D visualizations on the web. This opens up the opportunity for larger clinical studies using this complex imaging modality and highlights the versatility and strength of using X3D for multidimensional medical data visualization.
